China's BYD to Supply Uber

In a landmark deal, Chinese automaker BYD has inked a multi-year agreement to supply ride-sharing giant Uber with nearly 100,000 electric vehicles (EVs) worldwide. The partnership, announced on Wednesday, aims to provide Uber drivers with EVs at a reduced price, along with various financial incentives. The rollout of these vehicles will commence in Europe and Latin America.

BYD and Uber also plan to offer discounted options for car charging, maintenance, insurance, as well as financing and leasing solutions. This collaboration is set to bolster Uber's sustainability goals by enhancing the availability and affordability of electric vehicles for its drivers globally.

In 2023, BYD solidified its position as the world’s leading seller of new energy vehicles, having sold over 3 million units, which include battery EVs, plug-in hybrids, and fuel-cell vehicles.
