Germany Aims to Green One-Third of Its Steel Sector by 2030

Germany aims to green one-third of its steel industry by 2030, focusing on reducing emissions and producing eco-friendly steel.

Germany plans to transition one-third of its steel industry to green technologies by 2030, aiming for 12 million tons of eco-friendly steel annually.

Economy Minister Robert Habeck announced this initiative, targeting a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the sector. While the government is investing heavily, it faces challenges from high energy costs and competition from Asian exporters.

Trade unions and industry leaders are pushing for additional support to safeguard jobs and ensure Germany maintains its industrial leadership.
