Canadian miner Sigma Lithium has finalized a shipment of 22,000 tonnes (t) of lithium concentrate from its Grota do Cirilo project in Brazil to Abu Dhabi-based trading firm IRH. This shipment pushes the company’s third-quarter production above its 60,000t guidance, signaling robust operational performance.

Key Details

  • Grota do Cirilo: Sigma Lithium’s flagship project in Brazil, capable of producing 270,000 t/yr of chemical-grade lithium concentrate, equivalent to 36,700 t/yr of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE).
  • 13th Shipment: This deal marks Sigma’s 13th shipment since it began generating revenue in Q3 2022.

Recent Activity

On 30 September, Sigma also completed an export deal for an additional 9,000t, demonstrating consistent demand for its lithium concentrate.

Strategic Impact

Lithium, a critical mineral for electric vehicle (EV) batteries and renewable energy storage, continues to see rising global demand. Sigma Lithium’s ability to exceed production targets highlights its pivotal role in the lithium supply chain and positions it as a key player in supporting the global energy transition.
